Development of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for intestinal tumor
Our project in relation to the diagnosis and treatment of mucosal cancer and intestinal tract tumors affects more than 140,000 new patients per year in the EU. These tumors are usually diagnosed in late stages. The prognosis is hopeless and only half of the patients survive the first 5 years after diagnosis.
The objective of our development project is to obtain, based on ‘labelling’ of tumor tissue, an earlier diagnosis and therapy for these rare cancers. Early detection dramatically increases the therapeutic chances, which makes possible the complete removal of tumor tissue using minimal invasive techniques (surgery with local anesthesia, ambulatory surgery).
The ‘labelling’ drug used in this project has been scientifically studied, is safe to use, easy to administer and extremely effective according to several medical publications.
